Valerie Gonzalez Street is an artist, a writer and an avid learner of photography, a medium she first picked up seventeen years ago.
She is also the co-host of Don’t Watch at Night, a new podcast dedicated to Latine horror film and books. Valerie is the author of Soil Of The Gone and The Home State, both of which are available now. In October of 2025 she published A Song for Adelita and she’s wildly excited about it. Have you picked up a copy yet? Well you should if you haven’t.
Prior to all that, she worked in early childhood education and then within Texas state government. That last part sounds gross (and it is) but there are some good people fighting the good fight in there. Don’t forget about ‘em.
She continues to be an advocate for issues like voting and civil rights in the state of Texas and she lives just outside of Austin, Texas with her husband, her children and her dog, Luna.
Through every creation she makes she is forever teaching herself that the lessons lie in the process. Both in art and in life. - 2026
